Learn How To Garden In Small Gardens

How To Start Your Own Organic Garden

Meticulous attention to your garden is one of the primary tenets of the green gardening movement. However, it is possible to be smart about your organic gardening. This can help you grow tastier and happier produce. So, take heed of this advice so that your organic garden is the one that shines.

Involve your children in gardening. Gardening helps your children learn about biological processes and serves as a social activity that helps the family grow closer while eating healthier.

If you want to get children in on the fun, plant a few strawberries, everbearing if possible. For kids, there are few things as fun as picking fruit fresh from the garden. Your children will be much more interesting in helping out if they know they’ll get to enjoy some tasty strawberries.

A mixture of aspirin and water can help your ailing plants. Dissolve aspirin (1.5 pills per 2 gallons of water) in a bucket and administer to your plants. Spray the plants with the aspirin solution to help your plants fight disease. Try to apply the mixture to the plants at least once in each three week period.

Prepare the ground for a perennial garden quickly and easily. Using a garden spade, dig underneath the turf and flip it. Then, create a layer of wood chips at least three inches deep over the area you just flipped. Give the area a couple of weeks, then dig into it and plant your new perennials.

Your seeds, once they begin sprouting, don’t need the same amount of warmth as they did before. You can begin to move them further from the heat source as they become seedlings. If you have plastic films on your containers, remove them. Watch your seeds carefully to know when you can take these steps.

Make the most of the time spent in your garden. You do not have the time to spend an hour looking for each tool you need. Before you make a trip to your garden, you should gather all tools and items in advance. Afterwards, be sure to return them to their original storage place. You can use a tool belt for this purpose, or choose pants that contain several large pockets.

Plant Materials

Your compost pile should contain green plant materials and dry plant materials. Garden wastes, such as grass clippings, are classified as green materials. The leaves you rake in the fall, straw, sawdust and the like are dry material. Never use ashes, meat, charcoal, diseased plants or carnivorous animal manure in your compost pile.

When planting seeds in containers, plant the seed roughly three times deeper than the seed’s size. Some seeds need to be in direct sunlight, though, so you need to know information about each type of seed. Among the seeds meeting this definition are ageratum and petunias. If you’re not sure, a guide either comes with seeds, or you can find this information online.

As the above article’s tips have demonstrated, organic gardening can make a huge difference in your produce’s freshness and nutrients. You’ll have to put in a lot of effort and be patient, but the results organic gardening can give you are worth all the work.
