Learn To Grow Like A Pro: Organic Gardening Advice

If you are environmentally conscious and worried about the toxic effects of chemicals, organic gardening may be for you. Organic gardeners eschew the harsh chemicals and fertilizers used by large corporate farms. Also, organic gardening can save you a lot of money. This article will provide some great tips for organic gardening.

Water containing some aspirin helps your plants fight illness. An aspirin and a half, dissolved in about two gallons of fresh water, is great for your plants. Simply spray your plants with the mixture, and this will help them fend off various diseases. Apply at three week intervals.

Keep your plants in a warm, moist environment, if possible. This level of heat is required in order for plants to grow. If your home isn’t that warm during in winter, try a heat lamp to use on your organic plants instead.

Easily and quickly prepare your ground for a garden of perennials. Take your spade and work up a thin layer of soil. Turn that soil over, then spread a few inches of wood chips on the newly turned area. Let the area have about two weeks, then dig it and plan the new perennials.

After your seeds sprout, the containers do not need to stay as warm as they once did. Your seedlings should be moved away from any heat source. If you have plastic films on your containers, remove them. Observe your seeds carefully so that you can make these changes as soon as they start sprouting.

Use approximately two or three inches of natural, organic material as some mulch in every single flower bed. A thick layer of mulch will prevent weeds, reduce watering needs and fertilize your garden. This will also make your flowers appear beautiful and finished all year long.

Organize your gardening so that you can work efficiently. One of the biggest time wasters is not keeping track of your tools and having to look for them every time you need them. Before you start work in the garden, make sure you have the necessary tools, and always remember to put them away when you are finished. You can use a tool belt, or you may want to wear pants with extra pockets.

A good general rule when planting your seeds into containers is that the depth of the planting should be about three times the size of the seed. Some seeds shouldn’t be covered and must be in sunlight at all times. Some common examples include ageratum and petunias. If you’re not sure if your seeds need sunlight, you can find out online or through the seeds’ package.

Organic gardening is a high-risk, high-reward activity compared to normal gardening, but the rewards certainly are sweet. Although the chemicals may claim greater results, using organic methods to tame your garden will do less harm to your body, and the environment.

Over-watering your plants is not healthy because too much water may inhibit the roots from getting nutrients out of the soil. Always be sure to check the weather and keep a tight watering schedule. It’s important that your plants do not take on too much water. Depending on the weather, you might want to skip watering for the day.

Start using these tips right away, and you will be able to enjoy all of the benefits of a healthy, pollutant free organic garden in no time. You should notice more wildlife present in your garden if you use natural methods.
