In order to maximize the efficiency of your gardening, ensure your gardening tools are kept close by you. Keep the tools in a big bucket, or store them in strong pockets in your pants. Keep gloves, small pruning shears, a trowel and any other tools handy in order to increase the quickness of the work that goes into your garden.

After your seeds begin to sprout, it is not as important to keep them warm. You can begin to move them further from the heat source as they become seedlings. Additionally, remove any plastic films that were on your containers. This will keep out warmth and humidity. Keep an eye on your seeds so you will know when this should be done.

 

For your flower beds, organic material should be used as mulch. Two or three inches should be enough. Not only will you be adding nutrients, but weeds will be less likely to grow and moisture will be retained more easily. You will also have a gorgeous and finished organic flower bed.

Pine Needles

For some plants, pine needles makes an ideal mulch. Some plants are highly acidic, and like soil that is acidic too. If you are growing these types of plants, simply gather up fallen pine needles for use in your garden. Spread a few inches of pine needles on your organic beds so that it will put the acid into your soil.

Be aware of spacing considerations when you are first planting your organic garden. Leave a little more space than you think your full grown plant will need to make up for overgrowth. Space is necessary for the plants, but air circulation is also important. Make sure that you map out your garden layout beforehand and place your seeds with an adequate amount of space in between each.
