Are you a parent? If you are, try planting some strawberries like everbearing strawberries in your garden. A lot of children not only love to pick out their own fruit but they also love to learn about it as well.

If you are a fan of organic, sustainable gardening methods, consider leaving part of your backyard untouched so that natural plants and wildlife can flourish in the area. You will then find that the wildlife that can help you create a garden that can flourish become present; from birds to insects, they’ll be around your garden and help your produce grow better.

Make gardening efficient. Don’t waste your time by looking all over for your tools. Have all of tools you will need for the day before you head out your garden. When you are finished, put them away neatly for the next time. Get yourself a tool belt, or wear pants with many pockets.

Coffee Grounds

Put used coffee grounds on the soil. Coffee grounds have a lot of nutrients that plants can use. The more nitrogen you have in the soil, the greater the growth of your plants will be, so adding grounds or compost will ensure your plants grow large very quickly.

When it’s harvest time, you should utilize a basket that you put laundry in to carry your veggies. The laundry basket will function as a makeshift strainer for the fruits and vegetables. Just rinse the produce right in the basket; the water will drain through the holes.

Want to kill weeds naturally? Try using several newspaper layers to control weeds. Weeds require sunlight to grow. The layers of newspaper over the weeds will block out the light and kill them. Old newspapers are a valuable addition to your compost heap. You can then add a mulch layer right on top so that it looks more attractive.

As a good general practice, you should make sure to plant your seeds three seed-widths deep into their containers. However, it is important to understand that some seeds require sunlight and should never be covered. Some examples are petunias and ageratum. Always be sure to check online or with the company you’re purchasing the seeds from as to their sunlight needs.

The simple beer trap is still one of the best methods of ridding your organic garden of slugs. Place a jar into the soil so that the top of it’s mouth rests parallel with the soil. Pour beer into the jar until it’s almost full. Leave an inch of space between the beer and the jar top. The beer attracts these slugs, but traps them in the jar.

When you use the advice that has been provided in this article, you should feel confident in your gardening skills and be able to grow an amazing garden. Start applying some of the tips presented above, and in the near future, you could have your very own productive organic garden.
