When you want to harvest the produce in your organic garden, always have an old laundry basket to hand. Laundry baskets which have holes in them act as giant strainers for your home grown produce. While your freshly harvested fruits and vegetables are still in the basket, rinse them off and any excess water will run off through the laundry basket holes.

When you plant the seeds in containers, be sure the planting’s depth is three times bigger than the seed. Be aware that some seeds shouldn’t be covered, as they need sunlight. Some common examples include ageratum and petunias. Read the instructions that came with the seeds, and do some research on the Internet to find out the sunlight that your seeds need.

If slugs are an issue in your garden, a beer trap can make them go away. Bury a single glass jar with the open mouth level with your soil in the garden. Pour beer into the container to within an inch of the jar lip. Beer is especially attractive to slugs; they will lured to it and trapped.

For claiming your crops are credible and truly organic, get organic garden certified. This attracts customers who are willing to drive a little farther and pay a little more for products that are safe and healthy.
