Strawberries are a good organic garden choice for families with strawberries, particularly everbearing strawberries. Small kids enjoy picking fruit themselves out of a garden. Because of this, they’ll be more likely to provide you with some assistance in your garden if they feel like they’re receiving something out of it.

Organic Garden

If you’re working to build a sustainable organic garden, try leaving a portion of your garden untouched so that the wildlife will be able to thrive. Most likely, you will find your organic garden producing better once your property is home to the insects, birds, and other wildlife that plants rely on for pollination and the production and dispersal of seeds.

When a seed actually sprouts, it doesn’t need to be in as warm an environment. Move your plants further away from your heat source as they grow. You must also take away plastic films from your containers in order to keep the warmth and humidity out. Monitor the seeds carefully so you know the best time to do it.

Flower Beds

Add three inches of mulch to your flower beds. Doing this keeps weeds down, keeps the moisture in your plants, and gives more nutrients to the plants. Also, the flower beds will look beautifully maintained at all times.

Do not let your gardening chores add up. Even if you’re to busy to focus on your garden’s needs each day, you could do small things that could prevent you from piling up work when you wish to work on your garden. You can pull a few weeds when you take your dog outside.

Use an old laundry basket to gather your vegetables and fruits. You can also use a laundry basket as a strainer. If you leave your produce in the basket while rinsing it, the basket will be able to serve as a strainer, with the extra water dripping out the holes in the bottom of the basket.

When you’re making a compost pile, you should use fresh and dried plants to get it started. Garden wastes, such as grass clippings, are classified as green materials. For the dry end of the spectrum, think of things like paper and cardboard, sawdust, hay, etc. Do not include charcoal, ashes, meat, carnivorous animal manure or diseased plants.

It is possible to control weeds with natural methods. You should layer some newspaper to get weeds under control. In order to grow, weeds need sunlight. By placing newspaper over them, they will not get light and suffocate. Because newspapers decompose well with the passage of time, they make great additions to compost. Add visual appeal by placing some mulch over the top.

You can get rid of slugs with a simple beer trap. Bury a glass jar in your garden so that its open mouth is level with the top of the soil. Pour beer into the jar until it’s almost full. Leave an inch of space between the beer and the jar top. Slugs will be attracted to the beer and find themselves trapped.

As in most things, the more you know about organic gardening, the more successful you will be. These listed tips are just the beginning of an exciting and organic journey.
