Learn How To Garden In Small Gardens

Helpful Organic Gardening Tips You Can Use

Organic gardening may be a major pain, or a joyous hobby. Read this article to find out more about this activity.

Involve your children in gardening. Gardening is a great way for children to learn, and it gives you two a chance to spend some quality time together and produce healthy food.

Think about planting everbearing strawberries in your garden, especially if you have small children. Children love to snap up these sweet juicy fruits for themselves and will be much more willing to eat other foods you’ve planted as well.

You can help to prevent your plants from developing diseases with aspirin water. One and half tablets of aspirin in a couple gallons of water will be a wonderful help to the plants you have. All you have to do is spray the plants with this solution and you should see good results. You should spray your plants about once every three weeks.

Gardeners who are intrigued by the ideas of organic and sustainable methods should think about designating a portion of their landscape to support native plants and animals. A natural area will allow beneficial birds and insects, many of which pollinate plants, to live on your property and help your garden grow stronger.

Before planting any perennials, you have to make the ground ready. It isn’t as hard as it may seem; you basically just slice down under the turf, flip it over, and spread wood chips four to three inches. Let the area have about two weeks, then dig it and plan the new perennials.

Laundry Basket

When the time has come to gather up the produce, you need to use an old laundry basket. Laundry baskets which have holes in them act as giant strainers for your home grown produce. Rinse the product off whilst it’s in the basket so that any extra water can strain through the laundry basket’s holes.

A good general rule when planting your seeds into containers is that the depth of the planting should be about three times the size of the seed. There are exceptions to this rule though, as some seeds need direct sunlight to grow. Some common examples include ageratum and petunias. If you’re not sure, a guide either comes with seeds, or you can find this information online.

If slugs are disrupting the balance of your garden, you can diminish their population by using a beer trap. Take a glass jar and bury it so that the soil is even with its mouth. Next, fill up the jar with beer until there is around one inch between the liquid level and the jar top. Slugs will be attracted to the beer and find themselves trapped.

Organic gardening is a more involved form of gardening than is often realized. Organic gardens require much patience and hard work, but you can have a wonderfully beautiful organic garden. By using the tips and techniques found here, you can have a healthy, productive garden in no time.
