Learn How To Garden In Small Gardens

Switch To Organic Gardening By Using These Tips

There are many all-natural methods out there you can use to grow a bright, vibrant, healthy organic garden. Just learn some techniques, and put the ones that resonate with you into practice.

Your children will enjoy being involved with your organic gardening endeavors. A garden can be a great learning experience for your children, and it gives you a chance to bond while producing healthy food.

You can help to prevent your plants from developing diseases with aspirin water. Try dissolving around one and one half aspirins into around 2 gallons of water for your plants. The solution can then be used to spray the entire plant, and will offer protection naturally. Spray them once about every three weeks.

Have all of your tools available to you as you garden to increase efficiency. You can wear an apron or pants that have a lot of pockets, or use a big bucket or can. You should always have your gloves, pruning shears and a trowel close to you.

Organic Garden

Spacing is essential when planting an organic garden. Amateur gardeners often make the mistake of failing to leave enough space for fully matured plants. You will also need to ensure that you allow ample space around full-grown plants for air circulation. Plan your organic garden while keeping this in mind, and space your seeds accordingly, when planting.

Use an old laundry basket to collect your produce. An old laundry basket makes an excellent strainer for cleaning your produce. When you put your produce in a basket, you can then rinse it off and let it strain any excess water through the laundry basket holes.

Your compost pile should contain green plants and dried ones in equal amounts. Your green material can be made up of produce waste, used floral arrangements, lawn cuttings, leaves, and other yard waste. Dried plant matter, on the other hand, includes shredded paper, used wood chips and straw. Do not include charcoal, ashes, meat, carnivorous animal manure or diseased plants.

Build raised beds with untreated stone, brick or wood. If you use wood, be sure that it is untreated and naturally rot resistant. Some great choices to choose from are cedar, locust and cypress. Take care to avoid wood that has been chemically treated when your garden will hold vegetables, since unknown substances in the wood can make their way into your future food. You may have previously used treated lumber; if so, you should use a plastic liner to cover it.

Certification is important in order to be considered a legitimate organic gardener. Having certification will increase your sales and verify to your customers that what you are selling is the best produce available.

While organic gardening takes a little extra work, it is healthier and more gratifying than regular gardening. Even though the claims of the chemicals may be astounding, the organic way is always going to provide the best reward to you and whoever is eating your crops.

Anyone can plant a garden, but only those with the proper knowledge will receive the most out of their crop. Implement these important concepts in building a truly organic garden.
