Most people in our society have heard about the benefits of eating organic, or seen organic products in the grocery store. It is typically easy to identify organic products. They’re packaged differently and usually cost a lot more. Check out the tips in this article and find out how to grow your own organic garden at home.

Are you a parent? If you are, try planting some strawberries like everbearing strawberries in your garden. Little ones will be more likely to help when they can enjoy the fun of harvesting their own fruit.

Using a solution of aspirin and water can prevent certain plant diseases. One and one half aspirin crushed and added to a two gallon container of water will be a great help for your plants. All you need to do is spray the plants with the solution in order to battle common ailments. Be sure to repeat this process every two or three weeks.

Have plastic bags on hand so that you may cover your muddy gardening shoes. This allows you to keep going, getting back to your garden quickly.

Laundry Basket

You can use something like a laundry basket to gather all of your produce together when the time comes. The laundry basket is a perfect strainer for any produce run off. The produce can be rinsed off as it sits in the laundry basket, and extra water will drain out through the sides.

Creating a trap with beer can help reduce the number of slugs in your garden. First, place a glass canning jar in the soil, burying it until the mouth is even with the surface of the soil. Now, fill the jar with beer to approximately an inch below the lip. The slugs will be attracted to the beer and will end up being trapped within the confines of the jar.

A raised bed can be built with untreated wood, brick or stone. Choose a wood that is resistant to rot and does not contain any chemicals. Some great choices to choose from are cedar, locust and cypress. In a vegetable garden, never use treated wood, as the chemicals can leach out into the soil and food crops. If you have built a bed with treated lumber already, use a barrier such as plastic to line the bed.

When checking out tomatoes to buy, do a bit of poking in the soil. When buying tomato seedlings, avoid the ones with a bad root system or green starts. These starts will stick to the seedlings for quite some time, which prevents the seedlings from growing until the starts are gone.

Botanical Insecticide

Research botanical insecticide formulas, as they are often quite effective in eradicating pests. Natural insecticides are sometimes more effective than the myriad synthetic, chemical-based products available. Due to the way they are made, you may have to use more of a botanical insecticide.

You can simply make a newer garden for perennials with a few steps. Cut into your turf using a spade and then cover the exposed portion with lots of wood chips. Wait a couple of weeks, then you can easily dig into it with a trowel and then plant your favorite perennials.

Add mulch to flowerbeds and your garden that is about three inches and made from various organic materials. Your garden will look more professional, have fewer weeds, and benefit from the moisture control and additional nutrients.

Buy a soaker hose if you plan to plant an organic garden. This special type of hose allows water to slowly ooze out; the water then directly targets the roots and spares the leaves. These use much less water than the sprinklers and are less time-consuming than hand-watering your plants.

You need to learn how to make beds correctly prior to beginning organic garden. To begin your bed, slice under the grass with a spade. Once you do this, flip it upside down and cover this area with around three or four inches of wood chips. Once these have set for about two or three weeks you can plant in it.
