There are many all-natural methods out there you can use to grow a bright, vibrant, healthy organic garden. All it takes is a little research, and some strategic implementation.
Organic gardening is a safe hobby to share with your children. A garden can teach your children about the joy of rewarding work and nutrition while bonding.
Aspirin water will strengthen your plants against diseases. Dissolve one aspirin and a half for 2 gallons of water. All you need to do is spray the plants with the solution in order to battle common ailments. Try spraying your plants with this around every three weeks.
Before planting any perennials, you have to make the ground ready. Use a spade to dig up some soil, flip the soil over, and finally, sprinkle around 3-4 inches of wood chips on the soil. Let the area sit for a fortnight, then turn the earth and set up your new perennial bed.
Have all of your tools available to you as you garden to increase efficiency. You can make use of a bucket, or wear pants that have plenty of pockets. Keep your gloves, a trowel, small pruning shears and other tools handy and make quick work of your garden maintenance.
Pine needles make a great organic mulch. Some garden plants have a higher acidity, and prefer a more acidic soil. If you have acid loving plants, use pine needles as a mulch. Cover the beds with a couple inches of needles and as they decompose, they will disperse acid to the soil.
Don’t let the chores for your organic garden pile up. If your busy life prevents you from tending your garden every day, do small tasks to avoid having so much work when you do have some time. Take the time to do a little weeding or something else that needs to be done each time you have to be outside keeping an eye on your dog, which for some can be several times a day.
You can use something like a laundry basket to gather all of your produce together when the time comes. The basket will make a great strainer when you wash your vegetables. Rinse the produce while it sits in the basket, the extra water will go through the holes in the basket.
Want to kill weeds naturally? Put down old newspapers in several layers for controlling weeds. Weeds can’t grow without sunlight. Newspapers placed atop weeds will starve them from light and they will eventually die. Newspapers also decompose fairly quickly, and mix with your garden soil. In order to improve its attractiveness, add one mulch layer.
Create a raised bed for your garden out of stone, bricks or untreated wood. If you choose wood, it needs to be naturally rot resistant and untreated. Some good woods are locust, cedar and cypress. If you use your garden to grow vegetables, avoid using wood that has been treated with chemicals. These toxic chemicals may seep into the soil, damaging your crops. If you already have treated lumber in use, line it with some plastic and replace the soil near it.
Your authenticity as an organic grower is solidified when you obtain the organic gardening certification. With this, you and your crops are credible and 100% legitimately organic. This is important for your business and to your customers. This will not only increase sales, but it will demonstrate to your customers that your products are legitimate and that you are doing what it takes to grow the best crops.
