Get your children interested in helping with your organic garden. An organic garden will help your child learn more about plants and insects, and it’s a wonderful bonding time while growing healthy produce.

A great way to ensure that your organic garden will do well is to keep a section of your land unspoiled. The natural wildlife will spring up and make for a perfect organic habitat. You will see many of the birds and insects that are present will assist in pollination and plant production, helping to create a much better garden.

The ambient temperate of a room with live plants should be kept between sixty-five and seventy-five degrees throughout the day. Young plants need a temperature within that specific range to grow. Heat lamps can be used to promote growth without the necessity of raising your home’s interior temperature.

To make the most of your time in the garden, you should store all of your tools and implements in a close, accessible location. You have several options including using a bucket to hold your tools or wearing pants with lots of sturdy pockets. You should be able to do your garden work quickly if you keep a trowel, gloves, small pruning shears, and other handy devices close to you.

Pine Needles

Don’t underestimate pine as a great mulch. Acidic soil is a favorite of garden plants that are high in acidity. Use pine needles to increase the acid level in your soil if you have plants that require higher acid. Covering your plant beds with a layer of pine needles will allow the pine needles to disperse their acidic nutrients into the soil for your plants.

Use an old laundry basket to gather your vegetables and fruits. A benefit of using something like a laundry basket is that it can strain for you, as well as hold a large amount of produce. If you leave your produce in the basket while rinsing it, the basket will be able to serve as a strainer, with the extra water dripping out the holes in the bottom of the basket.

A rule of thumb for when you are planting seeds in containers is to make the hole depth around three times larger than the seed itself. There are exceptions to this rule though, as some seeds need direct sunlight to grow. Some examples are petunias and ageratum. When in doubt about whether a seed requires direct sun exposure, you can find lots of information online or on the seed packaging itself.

Organic gardening makes a huge difference in the taste and freshness of your produce. It requires a good work ethic, but an organic garden is indeed worth the effort.
