Learn How To Garden In Small Gardens

What You Need To Know About Organic Gardening

You must have both patience and skill to grow an organic garden. When you enjoy this hobby, you often have a goal of growing healthier foods for your family to enjoy. Are you intimidated? Continue on for some helpful advice that will have you gardening like a pro.

If you have children, plant strawberries, especially everbearing strawberries, in your organic garden. Kids really enjoy plucking snacks directly from the ground, and may have greater enthusiasm for the work if they see the results of their labor right away.

Make sure you have your gardening tools near you, so you can maximize your gardening efficiency. Keep the tools in a big bucket, or store them in strong pockets in your pants. Keep all of the tools you use and your gloves handy and will help you work more efficiently.

When your seeds sprout, they will not be in need of the warmth they needed to germinate. Take your plants out of the heat once they start to grow. Also, remove plastic coverings from the tops of your growing containers to keep them from becoming too warm or humid. Unless you closely monitor your seedlings, you may not move them in time.

Spend your time working efficiently in your organic garden. Don’t waste your time by searching high and low for that packet of seeds or spade. Have all of your tools gathered and prepared for use before you work in the garden, and make sure to put them away neatly. You can use a tool belt for this purpose, or choose pants that contain several large pockets.

Store a few plastic bags near your garden to slip on over your dirty gardening shoes. This allows you to work steadily and without distractions, making you a happier and more productive gardener.

Tend your organic garden on a regular schedule. Even doing just a few small things each day can keep chores from piling up and eventually becoming unmanageable. This will save you a lot of time in the long run. For instance, pluck weeds while you take your dog outside or before getting in your car.

Laundry Basket

Use an old laundry basket to collect your produce. The laundry basket will function as a makeshift strainer for the fruits and vegetables. When you put your produce in a basket, you can then rinse it off and let it strain any excess water through the laundry basket holes.

The hobby of organic gardening requires patience and effort, with a little help from Mother Nature. When you enjoy this hobby, you can find new opportunities to grow healthy and nutritious foods. But, if you are ready to dedicate yourself and stick to the advice in this piece, you are sure to be a successful organic gardener.
