Split up irises. If you split up clumps of them, you will eventually have more of this flower. When the foliage dies it’s time to lift the bulbous irises out of the ground. The bulbs will split up naturally in your hand, and when replanted, will often flower the next year. Divide rhizomes with a knife. New pieces should be cut from the outside, then the old center you want to discard. Each piece needs one strong offshoot. Do this cutting beside your garden bed, so that you can place your new groupings into the ground immediately.
Don’t use pesticides that aren’t meant to kill specific types of garden pests. This particular type of pesticide will also kill the useful insects that consume the pests. Beneficial bugs are more sensitive to these pesticides than the bugs that are detrimental to plants, so if the good bugs are eliminated, the bad pest population may grow. This can lead to needing even more pesticides to eliminate the problem insects.
When you water your garden, do it with care. Take advantage of a soaker hose so that you don’t need to water every single plant individually, or have to keep filling up your watering can. Turn the water pressure on low so the soaker hose will not harm tender plants. Allow it to water your plants for a couple of hours, so that you are free to do other things.
If you have an organic garden and children, plant some everbearing strawberries for them. Children love to snap up these sweet juicy fruits for themselves and will be much more willing to eat other foods you’ve planted as well.
Avoid getting an infection by not allowing dirt and other chemicals to get into open wounds. A cut or abrasion can become infected if it is not properly protected from dirt, pesticides and other irritants. Bandage all cuts completely, using bandages that cover and seal cuts.
Take the necessary time when planting seeds. First, add moisture to the soil where you will be planting. Next, you should evenly distribute the seeds ensuring that each one has enough room to grow. Bury the seed with a planting depth of about three times its size. Some seeds require direct sunlight to grow, and these should be left on top of the soil.

Avoid using animal manure, charcoal or diseased plants in your compost.
Consider solving your weed problem without the use of toxic chemicals. Try using several newspaper layers to control weeds. Weeds can only grow in sunlight. If the weeds have already sprouted, you can place the newspapers over them and they will die due to lack of sunlight. Newspaper decompose quickly and integrate into the compost. You can cover the newspapers with mulch to make them look more attractive if you like!
